📍 Bali, Indonesia 12/22/18
I’m sitting on a beach in Bali, watching the waves and the flicker of lightning in the distance. A band is playing at the most beautiful bar next to me. He is singing Demons by Imagine Dragons, and you can tell he really feels it.
I feel happy to be here, but I’m slightly surprised by the little feeling of loneliness.
My first full day in Indonesia was pretty wonderful. I woke up when my body felt like it and walked to a coffee shop I heard was very popular. On my way there, I ran into a guy who works at the hostel. He also works at the coffee shop I was walking to, so he offered to give me a ride on his moped. It was fantastic–the moped and the coffee (which was free, courtesy of my new friend).
After, he let me try riding his moped… It was a bit tricky at first, not gonna lie. But then I realized instead of controlling the moped, you need to become one with it…hehe.
After that, I headed to the beach, laid in the sun, swam, forgot to put on sunscreen, and walked the coast. It was lovely. Around this time, it started to rai,n so I walked back to my hostel to rest and charge up my phone.
Then I went for another long stroll around Seminyak, bought a corn on the cob from a street vendor, and ate pancakes at a coffee.
Overall, my day sounds pretty boring, but I really enjoyed it.
However, the uneasiness is creeping in. I know it is only day 1 out of many, but I feel the need to have some real adventures here. Soon, Like tomorrow. I’m thinking about renting a moped, but we’ll see. I’ll decide in the morning.
